Cannabis Medicine Made in Montana and Manchester
A far cry it may be from the sterile surroundings of the pharmaceutical industry, but the picture below shows Montana resident Homer Terry using a process known as "Ice-Extraction", to make clean, pure cannabis resin.

Terry, a volunteer at the Livingstone medical-marijuana growing co-op, would say he's making medicine. And the state of Montana agrees.

It has been four years since Montana voters cast an overwhelming vote to legalize medical marijuana. The ballot initiative which allowed patients with a doctor's referral to grow as many as six marijuana plants for medicinal purposes.

That water is soooo cold it aches to the bones.

And its perhaps this wide-ranging public support which has forced the UK government into a knee-jerk reaction of reclassifying cannabis.

The Home Office knows only too well if the question of allowing medical patients the option of using cannabis in the relief of their condition were to asked nationwide by way of a national referendum, the public support would wash away any thoughts of reclassifying what is a truly remarkable substance when you get to know it.

Ice Extraction method
This particular hashish making process involves ice (lots of ice) and water.

Long story short the plant material is taken down as close to freezing as possible. At this time the mix is agitated using a variable-speed drill on low speed with a food-mixer type attachment fitted.

As the vegetable matter is bumped and bashed by the motion of the paddles so the trichomes (the THC secreted "glands" of the cannabis plant - the only bit that gets you stoned), which are by-now-brittle with the cold are knocked off and fall to the bottom of the bucket.

The liquid is later seived through a procession of filters which have diminishing mesh sizes until in the end, all thats being seived is the non-water soluble THC glands, which are collected, dried and pressed into the familiar hashish block you may have seen, albeit a highly refined version of it.

As a result of the dedication shown (that water is so cold) by Homer Terry and people like him, the Montana patients who consume this cannabis resin will have none of the health concerns that British cannabis resin consumers are subjected to.

Now compare the picture above with the following picture, which also shows a person using the "Ice Extraction" method to make cannabis resin.

The entire mix is chilled close to feezing point and mixed..

Only this person is a Multiple Sclerosis sufferer in the United Kingdom, and you are party to a crime which could get the perpetrator a 5 year prison stretch.

Thats right, 5 years, for doing no more than the man in the first picture is doing quite legally just a few time-zones or a short plane journey away in America - land of the most punitive cannabis laws in the world.

Of course politicians in the UK will claim never to have imprisoned someone who was only seeking to improve their quality of life (oh really? ) and if that is the case, why not change the law to illustrate this fact? Err..no!

So much for a British Justice System. There doesn't seem to be much justice involved even though cannabis is a proven source of relief to painful, debilitating or even terminal medical conditions so far as other governments across the globe are concerned but in the UK, you can look forward to going to jail.

Shame on you Gordon Brown, Jacqui Smith and Vernon Coaker.

Shame on you!

Next the cannabis "soup" is filtered through a succession of smaller-every-time seives until finally...

the purest "blondest" resin is all thats left in the bottom of the bag..

Scooped out ready for drying and pressing..is this really worth a 5 year jail sentence for doing something which is perfectly aceptable in Montana?

Ask your Member of Parliament.
