http://pr.cannazine.co.uk : A South Wales man who uses cannabis to relieve the symptoms of a painful and incurable disease, has written to the UK government on the eve of the reclassification of cannabis, to ask them to make allowances for people who use medical cannabis.
He writes;
On the eve of the move by you to reclassify cannabis to class B, I would like to make a plea to the humanitarian thinkers among you. Please allow medical cannabis use!
Some of you may have ‘tried cannabis in university’, as you put it; some of you may have tried it many times since, some of you have never tried it, but have any of you ever used it for pain control?
I sincerely hope you have not had to, I hope you never suffer intense pain: pain so bad that suicide sometimes seems the only option. Well, I do suffer from intense and agonising pain on a regular basis and have, on occasion, considered ending it all as the only way out.

I will not go into great detail, but I suffer from an extremely painful and incurable illness called Hidradenitis Suppurativa, the symptoms of which consist of outbreaks of angry ‘boil like’ lesions around the groin, buttocks, armpits, stomach and thighs; reduced immune system and depression.
The depression is a reactive response due to the incurable nature of this painful condition and the realisation that it is for life!
This illness has taken so much away from my life; my job, my social life [I am almost housebound], my plans for the future, my ability to travel, my sex life and my self-esteem. My future is bleak and I am forced to live in poverty because of inadequate benefits. Into this world of hopelessness there is one glimmer of light, that light is cannabis.
Not only does cannabis work as an analgesic but it also lifts the dark depression which accompanies my disability. The pain killers I am prescribed are opiate based and come with a load of undesirable effects; drowsiness means I cannot function properly other than just laying down or sleeping, constipation can bring as much pain as the condition itself, addiction to these painkillers is inevitable if taken long term [I have been prescribed them for eight years now], and liver damage can occur through long term use.
Cannabis acts in a similar way in it’s pain-killing properties and does not have any of the above problems associated with opiates. Also it lifts my mood, the depression falls away and I find I can actually laugh and enjoy my life a little more.
Cannabis makes my life worth living!
Your policies rant on about children, about mental illness and you continue with your impossible prohibition. You continue to rave about ‘sending a message’ about cannabis, yet you tell lies about cannabis, you say that it is lethal and dangerous and that children need protecting from this plant.
While I agree with keeping children safe, I strongly disagree with your heartless stance on medical use of cannabis. It is cruel, it is inhumane and it is a violation of my human rights to seek safer pain relief rather than the more dangerous drugs offered by the NHS.
The message you are sending to me, and thousands like me is that you do not care about the sick, you do not care about out pain and suffering, you do not care about the truth. You message says that you do not listen, that you only care about votes, not people.
Let me tell you this: When I am in pain, I would not care if you instated the death penalty for cannabis use, I would still use it to quell my agony. You can reclassify cannabis to any letter you like, go through the whole of the alphabet if you wish, I would still defy you!
Cannabis, for me, is the best medicine that exists. It keeps my pain at bay and it lifts my mood; I can function to a far higher degree using cannabis as a pain killer that I can using the prescribed opiates. I can even laugh a lot, even through the excruciating times. Muscle spasms disappear when I smoke a ‘joint’ as does the deeper tissue-damage pain, and I can cope with the knowledge that this debilitating condition will be with me until my final day.
So, HM Government, please listen to this plea. I, and many like me, are no threat to you, no threat to anyone.
PLEASE allow those in pain to use cannabis without fear, please allow the disabled some relief.
PLEASE allow me to live without the fear of a fine I cannot afford to pay, to live without fear of arrest and to live my allotted span in peace and relatively pain free days.
PLEASE allow medical users to grow their own medicine, or to legally nominate someone to grow it for them. Please help stop the fear and suffering of thousands of your citizens, please have some compassion.

Which all begs the question; What would YOU do if you were Prime Minister?

When was the last time some one got high and started a fight. Take a look at the mess legal drugs make, compare that to the money that would be saved to legalize, its a no brainer really!
