Chelsea V Barcelona: Hiddink Not Impressed by Barca-Real Goal fest
When you've been around the block as many times as Guus Hiddink it would be fair to assume that it takes more than an average team performance to impress you. Even if that 'average performance' resulted in an eight-goal thriller at the Neu Camp.
Either way Hiddink's blase attitude to Barcelona's 6-2 drubbing of Real at the weekend is sure to have bruised a few high-paid, Catalonian ego's.
Maybe Hiddink isn't easily impressed or maybe he doesn't want to heap unnecessary praise on a team he has already acknowledged are the "best in the world".
More likely is the fact he has detected something worthy of exploitation in Barca's play.
Chelsea's fans will certainly hope so, and given Hiddink's stewardship so far, his clever tactical variations, no-one would doubt him capable of doing so again.
"There are different circumstances in tomorrow's game," Hiddink added.
"Barca are a team that are able to score. They have done it almost without exception in the games until last week."
That is of course, until they met Hiddink and Chelsea.
"The slightest error will be punished," he added.
That, and a message to seize the initiative and realise that now is "the time", will be his parting words to his players before kick-off.
With a career record as distinguished as Hiddink's only a foolish man would bet against his wise words.
