Through the likes of companies such as Medical Marijuana Inc who have patented an automated distribution and fulfillment system which meets all legal criteria for operating a medical marijuana dispensary, and Cannabis Science Inc , who have created an orally administered cannabis based lozenge for the treatment of a number of medical conditions, pretty much all of the moral arguments relating to cannabis have been removed, leaving cannabis entrepreneurs with carte blanche, to come up with ways of creating legitimate income without actually selling the drug itself.
A well-known side effect of cannabis use is as an aid to increased appetite. The US medical fraternity has since the 1970's when medical marijuana first became available from government suppliers, recognised the benefits of being able to increase a persons appetite, thus fuelling the body's natural immune system.
A system far more efficient at fixing up the human body than prescription drugs alone.
The fast food industry is another which benefits from cannabis users.
Because smoking cannabis stimulates the appetite, users of the drug are providing a £120 million weekly windfall to a string of takeaway food suppliers, such as Burger King and KFC, and manufacturers of 'munchie' products such as Mars bars and potato crisps are also getting a piece of the pie.
"When we use cannabis at home, there are some things we always consume at the same time" says Bill Stone, press officer with the British Cannabis Lobby.
"Fresh fruit juice for example, and takeaway food like kebabs are always popular" he continued.
"There's a sort of conspiracy between consumers and retailers these days. You know why you buy these things and they know why you're buying them too, but no one actually mentions it".
"For instance its with a knowing smile that a petrol station forecourt attendant will sell three packets of rizla king size and a half dozen mars bars and packets of crisps at 3am" he concluded!
Government research has already confirmed that more than 15 million people in Britain have tried cannabis. According to official figures there are 6-7 million regular users of cannabis every year.
More people than attend church, play Sunday league football or go fishing, (Labour party take note).
TRBI's Project Edge is the first study which has openly monitored cannabis use for commercial, rather than medical, purposes.
Regardless of whether they will openly admit it or not its understood the tobacco companies have worked secretly for years on trials of cannabis cigarettes, in spite of the fact that their scientists working on the projects risk arrest for drug possession.
However, manufacturers such as Rizla cigarette papers still insist that their 'King Size' Rizla papers are intended solely for making handmade cigarettes rather than rolling joints.
Be that as it may there's no doubt the green pound could play a large part in the recovery of the British economy, by way of the huge number of cannabis seed vendors, head shops selling pipes and bongs, as well as lifestyle items sold in support of cannabis culture, such as t-shirts and hoodies.
All of which already pay into the British economy with their tax payments.
"Even though cannabis remains the illegal hobby horse for successive governments, who wheel it out and make a noise about it everytime they need to deflect public attention from another expenses scandal" concluded Bill Stone, "the supporting industry continues in a rich vein of form, and with Arnold Shwarzenegger, Gov. of California looking for an honest and open debate on the merits of outright legalisaton, thats set to continue for the long term".
"As soon as transparency and science based drugs policies become the norm, cannabis will be legalised in under 12 months".
"Of course the politicians with a financial interest in pharmaceutical's, petroleum and alcohol know this all too well, which would perhaps go some way to explaining their reticence to allow the public to know the truth regarding what is commonly understood to be one of the safest most benign recreational drugs in existence today".
