http://pr.cannazine.co.uk : There's great news in the UK for those interested in creating an environmentally friendly, sustainable way of life, as its been announced a buyer has been found for the largest hemp processing plant in the world.
Hemp: Who would have thought something which looks like dry grass could have been so environmentally friendly and versatile?
Hemcore Formerly known as Hemcore and based in Suffolk, the saving of the plant was welcomed by local residents who described the £4m factory at the Halesworth Business Centre in Norwich Road as 'an asset' to the town.
Administrator Grant Thornton said the business and assets of Halesworth-based Hemcore have been sold to 'Lime Technology' for an undisclosed sum, protecting all current jobs. The business will continue in the same trade, under the name of Hemp Technology Ltd.
Ian Carr, a partner at Grant Thornton, said: "We are delighted to have found a buyer for Hemcore and, therefore, protect the existing jobs.
"There is a natural fit between Lime Technology and Hemcore and so the acquisition makes good strategic sense.
Manitoba Harvest Perhaps now we can concentrate on attempting to emulate the success hemp entrepreneur Mike Fata has enjoyed with his hemp company 'Manitoba Harvest' which was founded, and is based in Canada.
Hemp itself is one of the hottest health food trends in the organic marketplace, and due to its sales growth of more than 1,000% over the past 5 years, PROFIT Magazine featured Manitoba Harvest in the PROFIT 100 list as one of the fastest growing companies in Canada.
In 2005, Manitoba Harvest was named by 'Food in Canada Magazine' as one of the Top Ten Emerging Food & Beverage Entrepreneurs and the prior year Fata was presented with the Business Development Bank of Canada’s (BDC) 2004 Young Entrepreneur Award.
In October 2006, Manitoba Harvest was presented with the 2006 Socially Responsible Business Award for pioneering sustainable hemp agriculture in North America and for helping to spread organic farming.
