http://wales-cymru.org is a news and information website based around the Principality of Wales and according to its founder Iaun Evans from Cardiff, its arrival couldn't have happened at a better time for Wales.

"With the capping of the welsh leisure and tourism budget at £7 million pounds for 2009 it was thought Wales could miss out on the home-based holiday's bonanza which has been caused by the weak pound" he commented recently.
"Scotlands budget was a massive £21 million for 2009, allowing the scottish leisure and tourism industry to fund TV and press campaigns Wales simply couldn't consider, and in our opinion this puts Wales at a distinct disadvantage".

In reply Iaun decided he would create a platform on which small business owners in Wales could speak direct to the public using one of the largest information platforms available today; Google News. Offering welsh tourism a direct line to the global Google News network.

"Campsites, hotels, tourist attractions as well as the welsh business community. Everyone is welcome to use wales-cymru.org".

"All thats required is to surf over to the Wales-Cymru website and sign up for a free account. There-after you simply post your press release by following the menu's, and the rest happens auto-magically".

Its Effective. Fast too..
"We can publish a news report on one of our other Google News vehicles and that press release is searchable in every geographical region Google News covers, including New Zealand and Australia, the middle and far east, and the America's, and its available in under 30 minutes in most cases. Thats a potent 'exposure net' we can throw over Wales, and in light of the economic downturn we are experiencing currently, to be able to do so free of charge is an absolute bonus".

As well as offering welsh business's wide-ranging exposure the Wales-Cymru website also offers a round-up of general news articles published by one of the 20-some local authority's in Wales.

"During the swine flu outbreak" said Mr Evans, "welsh counties were offering their rural/farm based residents excellent information on how to protect against the flu virus, but unfortunately in a lot of instances it gets no further than the local authority website. A lot of people are still not using the web to its maximum potential and as a result a lot of this important information ends up not being read by those it was written for".

"Local authorities and the like, rely heavily on the "pull" method of distribution. Meaning they broadcast their news and information onto their own websites only, and rely on the end-consumer searching for the information. We think this is a very hit or miss way to run an important public service like local authority announcements" he continued.

"Where we can offer our website users greater exposure is in how we broadcast our news", he concluded.

"In short we put our information on the largest news platform in the world, and we carefully select our titles and keywords as they're going to do all the leg-work for us".

As people search for terms, ('Cardiff', 'Wales Camping' etc etc, our news articles are searched at the same time, and current news results will always turn up on page one of a google search.

"As things stand currently the only news which gets any wide-scale distribution in Wales, is news which shows Wales in a negative light. If it doesn't involve a stabbing, a large drug bust or a murder, welsh news simply doesn't make the cut".
