Buying Spice or JWH-018 now more expensive than cannabis
With all of the fuss which has surrounded the man-made cannabinoid JWH-018 of late its hardly surprising that the demand for the product, which works on the human body in the same way as cannabis does, is now higher than its ever been before.
Spice is set to be banned, but the market is already saturated with Spice Alternatives
Even though the primary product which brought the substance to market, the popular incense product known as 'Spice', is getting harder to find as a UK government ban of the Spice range of products draws ever nearer.
Ever since a German laboratory found Spice to contain a man-made cannabinoid (even though it was marketed as a 100% natural, herbal product), the popularity of JWH-018 has continued to grow.
Carried along no doubt by the whole 'research chemicals' argument which has swept the United Kingdom in the past 12 months.
In January 2009, the UK government changed the classification on which the laws surrounding cannabis are enforced, moving it from the lesser classification of class C, to the more serious rating of class B which brings with it the threat (however unlikely it may be) of a 5 year prison term just for possessing cannabis. And this, even though the United States and most of mainland Europe, is going the other way, decriminalising access to cannabis for those with a doctors recommendation.
As a result of increased enforcement levels, recreational drug users who are used to buying the street product known as 'Soapbar' (a faux-hashish product known to contain high levels of contamination in a bid to increase profits by increasing the weight), are now finding their intoxicant of choice harder to come by, and are moving to JWH-018 in their droves, and regardless of the impending ban
Indeed the ban, which its thought will come into force in the New Year 2010, has added a certain 'cache' to the whole JWH-018 reputation, meaning its in higher demand than ever before.
"If the government intend to ban it, there must be something good about it they don't want us to know about", said one student from London when asked to comment.
"JWH-018 is an incredibly potent intoxicant" he continued.
It normally sells in small, 250mg (£9.99) or 500mg (£14.99) 'deals', but in this instance a little goes a long long way. Once the ban comes into being its only a matter of time before it replaces street weed as the UK's illicit drug of choice".
