Cannabis Legalised at US Ski Resort
While the British Prime Minister continues to keep cannabis firmly locked away from those that need it most, a new law which essentially legalises cannabis possession for consenting adults has been rubber-stamped into law at the swanky Colarado ski resort of Breckenridge in the US.

Lethal in Britain, legal in Breckenridge. So how does THAT work Mr Prime Minister?
The paperwork is almost complete and the new law comes into being on January 1st 2010.

Breckenridge town council has approved draft regulations making it legal for adults 21 and older to possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana. The draft ordinance would also allow people to have paraphernalia and to transfer without sale less than an ounce of cannabis to other people, (social supply).
But before all the british drug dealers head off to the US to set up shop its worth mentioning that its not all good news.

In Breckenridge, the commercial supply of cannabis (selling for hard cash) is still a federal matter, punishable by a sentence in one of America's tough federal penitentiary's and to add to an already complicated situation, under the Colorado Ski Safety Act any use of marijuana on the Breckenridge ski area also remains illegal so 'leave your stash in the chalet' sounds like good advice.

Having said all that, this is also seen as a massive step in the right direction for those wishing to bring about the end of cannabis prohibition.
About 71 percent of Breckenridge voters who cast ballots Nov. 3 2009, backed the decriminalisation of cannabis.

The new law takes effect Jan. 1.
