Why was The Montel Williams Show suddenty canceled after 17 years on daytime television?
Bloggers are suggesting it's due to comments he made on Jan. 26 on Fox & Friends. Asked to "weigh in" about the death of Heath Ledger four days earlier, the talk-show host stated:
"He's an actor. I didn't know him. Yesterday in this country probably another 400 people passed away. I didn't know any of them. I want to tell America 28 troops died since Jan. 1.
That's what I want to talk about. I'm not gonna knock you.

That's part of what you do. That's part of what we need for ratings. I don't need 'em."
On Jan. 30, CBS Paramount Television notified Williams that his show was not being renewed for the 2008-09 season. Williams suffers from MS and is known for his support of medical marijuana.

You cannot be serious! Montel axed over something absolutely uneccesary as that? I have been waiting for a celebrity to state what he said--how basically people are dying every day--how people are dying young--how people are dying senslessly, but we will never know who they were. And whose to say that Heath himself (his spirit lives on) is not absolutely saddend by all this media B.S.?!!
