The news just keeps getting worse for the New England Patriots.
First, they lost the Super Bowl on Feb. 3 to the New York Giants, who scored the winning touchdown with 35 seconds left in the game.
Kevin Faulk
Two days later, DB Willie Andrews was arrested with a half-pound of pot in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Now, veteran running back and team captain Kevin Faulk is facing a marijuana charge in Lafayette, Louisiana where he was nabbed with four blunts entering the Cajundome for Lil Wayne's concert on Friday, Feb. 22.
Here's what happened:While heading to one of the dome's suites, Faulk was stopped and searched.
"He was cited for simple possession, which is a misdemeanor," Capt. John Babin of the Lafayette Metro Narcotics Task Force stated. "It’s based on an amount possessed for personal use. It wasn't a whole lot, a couple of grams probably. There was no trouble, Kevin was very cooperative."
Babin further explained: "It wasn't a random search - everybody going into the building was searched that night. It's a large venue in town where events are held throughout the year and based on the type of event and whether we would think there would be a narcotics presence we would work it undercover. Kevin just happened to have marijuana."
Faulk was not arrested and received a misdemeanor summons instead. A Lafayette native, Faulk starred at LSU in nearby Baton Rouge. He was taken by the Pats in the second round of the 1999 draft. Faulk has set New England's record for most receptions by a running back.
