Cannabis Education: Telling it like it is.

http://pr.cannazine.co.uk : "The confusion and dishonesty which surrounds the cannabis situation here in the UK has gone on for long enough and its time the truth was told"

This is the message being sent out today, from a web-based pro 'cannabis law reform' website which is based in South Wales GB,
(http://cannazine.co.uk).

According to the website's news editor, "The government has absolutely no interest in reliably and truthfully informing the public of the real, evidence based harms (or otherwise) that can result from cannabis use, because the real, unspun evidence, suggests the risks are far far lower than the government would have us all believe. But don't take our word for it. Just ask the American College of Physicians and its 124,000 practising Oncologists, Pharmacologists, Paediatricians and Physicians etc", who recently gave their very public backing in the press,

to the widescale use of medical marijuana and 124,000 doctors simply cannot be wrong.

"As a result we have taken the unprecedented step of compiling a number of articles which go on to show the greater public exactly what goes on in a cannabis growers grow room, as well as whats going on in his or her mind."

To clarify, we're not talking the grow rooms of organised criminals, who grow cannabis to feed the wholesale market drug prohibition has created. But rather the thousands of indiginous UK nationals who choose for one reason or another, cannabis, over other, government supported substances.

"As the situation stands currently the press will publish any and every article or story so long as it has an anti-cannabis angle. Yet a great many of the UK cannabis community have attempted to give their side of the story, positive experiences, to the nations newspapers, but with little if any success in actually getting published."

They (the national press) are simply not interested.

"This leaves the United Kingdom with a distinctly one-sided representation on a social issue which either directly or indirectly, affects every single one of us."

"With this in mind we would challenge the press to publish this information in equal measures to the "anti-cannabis" negative material which is published daily. With upwards of 4 million regular cannabis users in the UK, it might even sell you some more newspapers, which is after all, what its all about?

Cannabis Law
"We're told that if we consume cannabis we can expect to be imprisoned for 5 years. Yet half of the currently serving Labour government admitted to using cannabis themselves"?

Misuse of Drugs Act
"We're told if we use cocaine, we can also expect, on top of a possible 5 year sentence, an unlimited fine. Or both? Yet the leader in the race to be the next Mayor of London, tory MP Boris Johnson, has admitted to the press yesterday, (obviously in a bid to clean out all the skeletons which could crop up and haunt him later), that he experimented with cocaine, as well as cannabis as a student?

Conservative leader David Cameron, a high-profile and vocal supporter of Gordon Browns plans to reclassify cannabis, had a couple of run-in's with authority in his early years and its been said, he was almost expelled from his public school, directly as a result of cannabis, which is sure to see some questions asked of him at a later time?

So in spite of all the dire health warnings, it appears that the ruling classes are still all too ready to use the very same substances they wish to imprison you and I, the "council estate plebians" for?

Cannabis Community
For a great many years the UK cannabis community has suffered in silence, as the government run propaganda machine turns out a never-ending supply of anti-cannabis news reports. Some of which were so ridiculous they don't even warrant mentioning, and some were just so funny, they do. Remember back in march 07 when The Independent newspaper told us "Cannabis 20x-30x stronger than in the 60's"?

These days of course, that "20x-30x" has become 2x-3x stronger, which is still a popular urban myth the press like to use to their own ends.

Unfortunately due to an over-bearing government threatening to persecute anyone who speaks with even a modicum of positivity towards cannabis, the many tens of thousands of people who grow and consume their own cannabis in the UK, find themselves unable to speak as many of them have jobs, and personal circumstances which would be systematically destroyed were they to be labeled "druggies", for using a substance which is, no-matter what the press says, non-addictive, and yet to cause a single death, unlike those government cash-cows alcohol and tobacco.

So for the first time in history the cannabis community is being invited to speak with safety, through the Canna Zine news portal. You tell us your story, and we will, after changing names, locations etc, tell your story on your behalf.

Maybe then, the journalists who write the nations cannabis news will realise just how ridiculous some of their stories actually are.

Tomorrow on the Canna Zine;
With all the talk of cannabis being X amount stronger than it used to be, it became apparent that none of the press had any idea what those numbers actually meant? If a cannabis plant is said to contain "22% THC", that should be read like a bottle of whiskey right, with the percentage showing the volume of alcohol, (or in the case of cannabis, the percentage of the "active ingredient" - the bit that gets you stoned?).

Image

If you included the glass bottle the whiskey comes in, within that percentage you would be getting along the right lines, but it still leaves us with a vague interpretation, which the police use every single day to prosecute and imprison people, even though the percentage of THC has absolutely nothing to do with the potency of the cannabis, so therefore matters little in the grand scheme of things.

Tomorrow, all will be revealed, on the Canna Zine - Daily zine for the global cannabis scene - Bookmark us!
