Why don't more Americans vote? You and I know it's because we have come to realize that we have no real political choices offered to us anymore - the new boss is the same as the old boss. During the last four decades of presidential elections only 54 percent of eligible voters cast their ballots. America ranks 35th in voter turnout out of the world's prominent democracies. Our numbers are embarrassing compared to Italy's 90 percent, Germany's 80 percent, France and Canada's 76 percent, Britain's 75 percent and Japan's 71 percent. Mexico's drug war heats up escalating to the Blood Baths of violence during alcohol prohibition. Our current prohibition creates the black market funding the cartel terrorists. Official lawlessness rules once again! Casas por Cristo is a local nonprofit organization in Juárez, across from El Paso with a partnership among churches of the United States, Canada and Mexico to serve the needs of Mexican families. In all, it has built about 3,000 homes for the poor. At least 14 groups from the United States and Canada have canceled this summer's trip. "A lot of the volunteers are afraid of coming to Juárez because what they hear and see on national television," Cisneros said. "They don't know that most of the crime has taken place in areas where the wealthy families live, and not on the poor areas where we work. Prohibition triggers violence on our streets and on our borders. Law enforcement officials in Camden, New Jersey are blaming drug gang turf wars for a spike in killings in their city. The real cause of this huge quagmire of failed policy is the beast, big government, that money hungry beast! Ma Freedom tells it like it is! The beauty of it is when we focus on downsizing big government we regain self-government and secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and future generations. VA "treatment" is far more dangerous than combat in Iraq! Dr. Phil Leveque says the 400+ Vietnam Veterans he treats say marijuana or cannabis works better (and safer) than ANY of the below mentioned drugs to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Twelve battle veterans with PTSD have died from the prescriptions for Paxil, Klonopin and Seroquel given them by VA clinics. Veterans represent less than one percent of the population but they account for 20 percent of the deaths by suicide!. I read a statistic that 500 vets a month are currently committing suicide. That made me want to howl! They feel so appreciated by that beast, Uncle Sam and the rest of us. Medical cannabis could be used to safely help with post traumatic stress and prevent some of these deaths. Instead I understand if they test positive they lose their vet benefits for prescription drugs. What insanity!! For three years, Howard Wooldridge, from Ft. Worth originally, road his horses across the US as a promotional event for LEAP, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. He was a riding billboard as he wore a t-shirt that read "Cops say legalize drugs ask me why?" These days this rebel with just cause, a real live American cowboy hero, represents drug law reformers as a LEAP's Education Specialist in Washington DC. He writes about his experience in LEAP on the HILL. Recently Howard had work scheduled for the weekend so he snuck some time off to ride his horse Misty one weekday morning. Then he went to his favorite Mexican cafe. Naturally he sat at the stool next to the cash register so everyone would read the back of his t-shirt as they paid. A young woman tapped him on the shoulder. “Is your t-shirt serious? Cops want to legalize drugs? WHY?”….and from her tone Howard believed she was about ready to hit him. “Cut crime, no drug dealers & we can arrest more DUIs and child molesters.” The cowboy/cop replied. Her face broke into a big smile, she shook his hand and thanked Howard for his position. Our hero breathed a sigh of relief, "Whew! No black eye to explain to his better half!" Turns out, she works for SAMHSA (federal agency dealing with substance abuse and mental health) in their treatment division. She invited Howard to address her colleagues during a ‘brown bag lunch’ seminar. When the Drug Czar was speaking to her group a few years ago, she let him know her opinion, the war on drugs is a horrible policy and should be ended immediately. Peter Bensinger former DEA head and former drug czars, Robert L Dupont and Carlton Turner shamelessly promoted drug testing as the solution to drug problems while they held office. Bensinger, Dupont & Associates is now the world's largest drug testing company. This Association formed by these same big drug warriors is reaping a fortune on the drug testing laws they wrote. The only beneficiaries of drug testing are the makers of the tests. Statistics reveal that random student drug testing doesn't work and can deter students from extracurricular activities; the very activities that increase students' connection to their schools and to caring adults. What's worse, studies even show that student drug testing does not deter drug use. The truth about drugs will keep our children off them. Sound medical and unbiased scientific knowledge are the most effective moral persuasions. Present policy falsehoods and scare tactics undermine our credibility. Effective drug education based on medical science builds student's confidence to make informed responsible choices. We want to encourage drug free behavior not awaken their curiosity. Truth, trust and reason encourage open communications between youth, parents and faculties. If they are hard line drug warriors, ask them to at least support HR 5842 which would allow the medical use of marijuana in states that have chosen to make its use for medical purposes legal with a doctor's recommendation. The debate over medical marijuana or cannabis is really a scandalous controversy over whether this very easy-to-grow herb should be allowed to compete with pharmaceuticals for pennies on the dollar. Harassing the sick and dying is an un-American activity. The tool we need to fight drug abuse is compassion. Treat nonviolent abusers as patients not criminals. The cumulative effect of current policy is becoming obvious; while we police individual recreational and medicinal use of drugs, murderers and violent sexual predators roam free. Repeal Prohibition! Restore justice in America; in the world, construct science based drug policies about saving and rehabilitating instead of ruining lives. Get tough on violent crime! Warriors can get their adrenaline rush increasing public safety; chasing killers and other violent predators. Let's resolve to right the wrongs that exist today by focusing on how much better off each individual American will be in a truly free society with a very small government. Return to our founders bright idea of America, a shining light of liberty for the world, leading by example. This summer make living easier by joining the Easy Revolution. The web is the fastest growing communications medium in the history of the world. A powerful tool, a window of opportunity, in our war of good over evil; the Internet continues to revolutionize the way we communicate and has enormous potential for reshaping the political process.
